ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER

"There must be some kinda way out of here"
Said a joker to the thief
"There's too much confusion,
I can't get no relief.
Businessmen they, they drink my wine,
Ploughmen dig my earth
None will level on the line
Nobody of it is worth"

"No reason to get excited"
The thief he kindly spoke.
"There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I we've been through that
And this is not our fate.
So let us not talk falsely now,
The hour's getting late"

All along the watchtower,
Princess kept the view
While all the women came and went,
Barefoot servants too.
Outside in the cold distance
A wildcat did growl
Two riders were approaching
And the wind began to howl

BURNING OF THE MIDNIGHT LAMP

The morning is dead
and the day is too
there's nothing left here to greet me
but the velevet moon
all my loneliness
i have felt today
it's a little more than enough
to make a man throw himself away
i continue
to burn the midnight lamp
alone
Now the smiling portrait of you
is stll hangin' on my frowning wall
but it really doesn't really doesn't bother me too much at all
it's just the, uh, ever falling dust
that makes it so hard for me to see
that forgotten ear-ring laying on the floor
facing coldly toward the door
and i continue
to burn the midnight lamp
whoa, alone
Burn
yeah yeah
lonely lonely lonely
loneliness is such a, drag
So here i sit to face
that same old fire place
gettin' ready for the sam old explosion
goin' through my mind
and soon enough time will tell
about the circus and the wishingwell
and someone who will by and sell for me
someone who will toll my bell
and i continue to burn the same old lamp
alone
Yeah, right now
can you hear me callin' you so lonely
gotta blow my mind
yeah yeah
lonely lonely lonely
blow my mind
yeah

CROSSTOWN TRAFFIC

You jump in front of my car when you,
you know all the time that
Ninety miles an hour, girl, is the speed I drive
You tell me it's alright, you don't mind a little pain
You say you just want me to take you for a drive

You're just like crosstown traffic
So hard to get through to you
Crosstown traffic
I don't need to run over you
Crosstown traffic
All you do is slow me down
And I'm tryin' to get on the other side of town

I'm not the only soul who's accused of hit and run
Tire tracks all across your back
I can see you had your fun
But darlin' can't you see my signals turn from green to red
And with you I can see a traffic jam straight up ahead

You're just like crosstown traffic
So hard to get through to you
Crosstown traffic
I don't need to run over you
Crosstown traffic
All you do is slow me down
And I got better things on the other side of town

RAINY DAY, DREAM AWAY

Cough, cough, sniff, sniff
hey man, take a look out the window
and see what's happening
hey man, its rainin' its rainin' outside man
oh don't worry about that, brother
everything's gonna be everything
we'll get into something real nice, you know
why don't ya sit back and groove on a rainy day
Snif, yeah
sniff
yeah i see what you mean brother
maybe i can groove
Rainy day dream away
let the sun take a holiday
flowers bathe and uh
see the children play
lay back and groove on a rainy day
well i can see a bunch of wet preachers, look at 'em on the run
the carnival trafic noise, it sinks
into the splashy hum
even the ducks can groove
rain burdend in a park-side pool
and i'm leanin out my window sill
diggin' everything
and uh you too
Rainy day rain all day
ain't no use in gettin' up tonight
just let it groove its own way
let it drain
your wories away
lay back and groove on a rainy day
lay back and dream on a rainy day

VOODOO CHILD (SLIGHT RETURN)

Well, i stand up next to a mountain
and i chop it down with the edge of my hand
yeah
well, i stand up next to a mountain
and i chop it down with the edge of my hand
well, i pick up all the pieces and make an island
might even raise a little sand
yeah
Cause i'm a voodoo child
lord knows i'm a voodoo child baby
I want to say one more last thing
I didn't mean to take up all your sweet time
i'll give it right back to ya one of these days
hahaha
I said i didn't mean to take up all your sweet time
i'll give it right back one of these days
oh yeah
If i don't meet you no more in this world then uh
i'll meet ya on the next one
and don't be late
don't be late
Cause i'm a voodoo child voodoo child
lord knows i'm a voodoo child
hey hey hey
I'm a voodoo child baby
I don't take no for an answer
Question no
yeah

LETRAS

"MOTHER"

Mother, you had me, but I never had you
I wanted you, you didn't want me
So I, I just got to tell you
Goodbye, goodbye
Father, you left me, but I never left you
I needed you, you didn't need me
So I, I just got to tell you
Goodbye, goodbye
Children, don't do what I have done
I couldn't walk and I tried to run
So I, I just got to tell you
Goodbye, goodbye
Mama don't go
Daddy come home
"LOVE"
Love is real,
real is love
love is feeling,
feeling love
love is wanting
to be loved.
Love is touch,
touch is love
love is reaching,
reaching love
love is asking
to be loved.
Love is you
you and me
love is knowing
we can be
Love is free,
free is love
love is living,
living love
love is needing
to be loved.

"WORKING CLASS HERO"

As soon as you're born they make you feel small
by giving you no time instead of it all
till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
a working class hero is something to be
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
they hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
a working class hero is something to be
When they've tortured and scared you for twenty-odd years
then they expect you to pick a career
when you can't really function you're so full of fear
a working class hero is something to be
Keep you doped with religion and sex and tv
and you think you're so clever and classless and free
but you're still fucking peasants as far as i can see
a working class hero is something to be

there's room at the top they're telling you still
but first you must learn how to smile as you kill
if you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
if you want to be a hero well just follow me

"GOD"

God is a concept
by which we measure
our pain
i'll say it again
god is a concept
by which we measure
our pain
I don't believe in magic
i don't believe in i-ching
i don't believe in bible
i don't believe in tarot
i don't believe in hitler
i don't believe in jesus
i don't believe in kennedy
i don't believe in buddha
i don't believe in mantra
i don't believe in gita
i don't believe in yoga
i don't believe in kings
i don't believe in elvis
i don't believe in zimmerman
i don't believe in beatles
i just believe in me
yoko and me
and that's reality
The dream is over
what can i say?
the dream is over
yesterday
i was the dreamweaver
but now i'm reborn
i was the walrus
but now i'm john
and so dear friends
you just have to carry on
the dream is over

ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA - CLIPS 71 - 86

De esa etapa quedaron los discos Electric Light Orchestra Part Two y Moment Of Truth.
